providing care for the elderly. Assisting families with an extra tier of support for relatives in later life.
Adapting to accommodate care provision for the elderly
The idea initially came to me following my elderly father's terminal diagnosis early in 2018. He was a very independent man and as such, he wished to remain within his family home of some 56yrs, as long as safe to do so.
After a group, family discussion we arranged to install two cameras to monitor his activity when we couldn't be with him. Checking he made safe passage between rooms, didn't trip or fall, took regular meals and drinks, etc. The cameras alerted us to movement / sound in real-time on our mobile phones and also recorded the daily events (if required). This gave us a great peace-of-mind and for him, although he retained his independence, he knew we were never far away.
It was a simple solution to a common problem experienced by many families in similar situations. An elderly relative who needs that little extra support in later life. But who at the same time, doesn't want to enter the care home system or be a burden on close family members. It is also a sensible measure to adopt when elderly relatives return home following a hospital stay.
As I have worked within the industry for over 20yrs, I am familiar with current, GDPR legislation.
In assisting families in similar situations, we can look after our elderly relatives as their dependency needs increase with age. Families can retain the data within their designated family unit to protect privacy laws.
We also can provide additional help with monitoring subject to family consent.
The Covid crisis has shown more than ever how vulnerable the elderly are in their advancing years.

can also provide that extra tier of support to a patient returning home, following a hospital stay. Sometimes returning to an empty home can be a daunting thought, especially for the elderly. We help bridge the gap between family visits and organised carer placements.
